Instead of dealing with insurance or surprise bills, families pay an affordable monthly membership that covers visits, messaging, and ongoing support from their pediatrician. DPC doctors have smaller patient panels, allowing them to spend more time listening, answering questions, and getting to know families. They focus on providing accessible, transparent, and relationship-based care. Direct Pediatrics aims to provide care designed for real families, offering 24/7 access to pediatricians via call, text, or video, home visits for newborns, same-day appointments, and simple monthly fees without co-pays or deductibles. Direct Pediatrics has two locations, one in Norton Commons and one in Middletown. Dr. Steve Johnson, who is Kentucky's only dually licensed pediatrician and child psychologist, practices at the Norton Commons location. He addresses the physical, developmental, and emotional/behavioral needs of patients from birth to 21. The Middletown location is staffed by Dr. Kyle Stewart. Direct Pediatrics encourages families to vaccinate their children according to the AAP and ACIP recommended schedules. They are willing to see families who intend to get their children vaccinated on an alternate schedule but will continue to recommend the AAP schedule. The practice may not be a good fit for families who do not plan to vaccinate their children. With Direct Pediatrics, families can expect competent, thoughtful, and responsive care.
